Just purchased a 1982 Maroon El Camino, which has the silver SS decals on the doors and tailgate. It does not appear to have been repaited, so I just need to confirm whether it is a real SS or just a clone. Already decoded the VI, so I know it has a 305. Would also appreciate if someone could decode the full cowl tag info for me.

VIN:
1GCCW80H9CR197184

Cowl Info:
C 05C 1GW80 R 176614
26N 29L Z1M 29U L
AM6
15 1643

Thanks
Gary

Thanks for the link, however it only contains cowl and trim info for Camaro's not El Camino's.

I am trying to figure out ours as well. We are told that it was one of approx: 50 built in '82. The rad cradle says that it is a 305 but the P.O. told us that it has a 400. It has a Monte Carlo front clip (which I am lead to believe is wrong for a '82) either way it is a gorgeous car, I just took it for a 3,000 mile trip and it performed amazingly.
