Assuming you can get a instrument pod with all the parts it will have the circuit board, and all the instruments. That is the easy part to swap. If you are going to put in a tach you will need a tach filter to connect up to the distributor. Be sure the Tach is a correct version. The V6 version is different from a V8 tach.
The only other parts needed is a new oil pressure sender and a temp sender. I converted my 86 to gauges and it was not difficult. Getting the oil pressure sender into place was the only challenge. I had to put it in where the old oil pressure switch was. There is not much room back there. I had to pull the distributor to get the oil pressure sender into place.
Swapping the temp switch to a sender is easy. If you are fast you don't have to drain the antifreeze, it will dribble out but not much will come out before you get the sender back in.
One thing I would suggest is to paint the back of the gauge blackout, and but some small washers to act as a spacer. I just hot glued a washer to the back side of the 4 screw holes. Then I just used a small paint brush and painted most of the backside. It made a HUGE difference on the brightness of the gauges. You will like the gauges. It is crazy that cars are made without gauges.
