I just finished installing a Spectre advance adjust kit...

Was it just because I bought cheap Chinese parts or are all mechanical advance kits this bad? It seemed like nothing quite fit. I had to drill out the weights to be able to press in the bushings. I had to reem the bushings to get them onto the spring posts. It does not seem like the weights can move the center plate to the full rotation limits.

Oh well it has to be better than what I pulled out: bent weights, completely worn out bushings, weights sliding over other parts, and lastly (but certainly not least) the center plate installed backwards. Sometimes I gotta wonder about the morons who worked on my Elky previously

In my humble opinion you should have replaced your distributor with a good aftermarket upgrade/performance product. I believe you will regret your decision.

SORRY!

Well you may be right...

But between the large cash sucking sounds I hear every time I go by the Elky and the fairly near term plan to convert over to EFI (which will mean a different distributor and computer controlled ignition timing) I would rather not go there just yet.

At least I am working with HEI rather than points on my '68.
