I tried a search and could not find the info, and I know it has been answered before. I have an 80 elky that is getting an lt1 swap from a 95 camaro. what cross member (from what vehicle) is needed to fit the stock camaro tranny onto the 80 elky. the frame stops right where the stock xmember is so I cant move this one back and re-drill holes. I have seen the crossmembers.com kits and they are nice but I am hoping for a cheaper solution. thanks

I was able to use the original by notching the pad where the trans mount attaches. Sorry, I do not have any pictures of it but if you hold the cross member up to the trans when it's installed, it should be obvious where to cut it. Otherwise, it uses the original holes in the frame.

your talking about the flat metal plate that sticks out from the xmember and has the oval hole in it right? I thought that would be all I would have to do from looking at the difference in trannys but when I look at crossmembers.com it says I need the frame extension kit for the double hump cross member. if the original works then I'll just get the jegster dual exhaust crossmember. I'm not looking to run it on the track so I don't need the stiffness but I do want dual pipes. thanks for the help. what year was your swap on?

They're not the cheapest thing in the world but they do make them. Go here: http://www.geocities.com/gforcejohn/

VERY reasonable and excellent work!

Does fisher@mo-net.com have website? I'm attempting to do a similar swap (engine/trans from '94 Roadmaster).

Thanks for the tip. I contacted them and have received my crossmember. It is a well-made part. I have it painted and ready for when I start the swap. I have to do some work in the engine compartment before the LT1/4L60E goes in.
