I find that the turn signals on my '85 are very slow. All the bulbs work, but the frequency of the clicks is about 1 every 7 seconds. When the lights are on, it gets even longer- maybe 15-20 seconds between flashes.

How old is the flasher, they do wear out, if not check charging system the flasher works of voltage low volts slow blink. hope this helps

Replace the flasher unit, if this doesn't solve the issue then you need to check your grounds and sockets in the rear. If still no help, you may have high resistance to and/or through the turn signal switch.

Thanks Guy's. I'll go spark chasing!! Could be low voltage. The previoius owner put the small 6" dampener pulleys on- guess he thought it would give him more horsepower. I've noticed that the voltage guage shows less than 12 volts when the car is ideling.

Have you had you alternator checked for output?? You might want to locate an alternator/starter specialist in your area to run a check on the alternator under load (must be in the car). Could be a bad diode that would inhibit voltage flow.

Also, have you checked your idle speed to be sure it's up where is should be??

Lastly, check your battery cable connections to be sure they are clean and tight...especially the gorund wire connrection on the alternator bracket and inner fender panel.

Just other thoughts than what has already been mentioned.

Check the bulbs. If you have the wrong bulbs they will not activate the flasher correctly and could be the cause of them being slow. Also check to see if the PO had put in some type of grease in the socket. It could be contaminated or creating a high resistance situation. Clean and replace the dielectric grease.

Always use that grease in the sockets. Otherwise you could end up not being able to remove the bulbs and have to replace the sockets.
