It is with bloody fingers I write this question. After installing new door panels on my '75, I can't seem to be able to get the window cranks back on. All the info I've seen says simply to assemble the clip to the crank and deliver a sharp blow with the hand to install them. No way! It seems that i need a 5 lb. sledge hammer or equivalent. Anyone know any trick to get them back on? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Jack

Afternoon Jack. You are correct in that you put the clip on the handle and push it back on. I just did mine twice, and it takes a little bit, but it does go on like that. It should not take a hammer to hit it back on though.
On my window cranks, there are two "slots" for the "c" clip. I put the clip on the one closet to the handle and the open part of the clip inward to the crank.
I'll take a couple of pictures and post them.

door handle 1 (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album57&id=door_handle_1&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php)
door handle 2 (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album57&id=door_handle_2&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php)
door handle 3 (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album57&id=door_handle_3&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php)
Is this close to what you have on yours? Mine is a '73, but should be very close.
Hope it helps.

Yep, mine looks just like yours elky73, but i'm having a hell of a time getting them back on. They go on just far enough to engage the clip, but not far enough to engage the spline. Any idea what's going on? Or do I just get different cranks? Seems like the new ones just don't engage the spline.

Think I found the problem! The cheapo repro's I bought aren't correct, the spline doesn't come up far enough to engage the spline on the door. Hope no one else runs into this problem. I'll have to go for the GM cranks, at least they work!

I bet your correct Jack. Come to think of it, I should have remembered that I had problems with some repro's a while back. And when I went with some real good originals, they work like just fine.
Glad your problem is resolved.
