Im looking at getting a gaylord cover for my elky, its not fromt he factory, but its never been opened supposedly. In any case, i've seen online they look like they have "rain channels" or something along those lines. I was just curious, because i thought that they were watertight seals, or at least...if ya put stuff in there, it wasnt going to get wet. Where do these water channels go to? do i have to drill a hole in my elky's bed?

Inside the pickup bed of my Elky, there is a fibreglass "rain gutter" that covers the full width of the wall under the rear window and it wraps around about 18 inches further on each side. This is intended to catch any rain water that seeps in off the rear window or when you lift the cover up in the air to open it. At the side ends on each side, there is a hole drilled through the fender well to let any water thus accumulated out onto the ground in front of the rear tire. It actually works quite well here in New England. Everyone is amused, however, after they see me wash the Elky to see a stream of water squirting out from under the fenders. Usually get some wise remarks about dogs and fire hydrants, taking a "leak," etc. By all means, put the cover on if you like its appearance or need to protect the contents of the pick-up bed. There is no need to catch water anywhere else over the bed because the cover laps over the side trim and the rear tail gate. Good luck.

They are "Weather Resistant" not weather tight. It can get wet inside but usually don't.

Gaylord makes two types both use the same type of deterant one is a textured top and one is a smooth top. If it matters.

Be sure and open it up and check it out I just bought one this week and had it shipped to me and the drain trough was broke into and the chrome around the edge was also damaged and it also broke a piece about the size of a quarter off it . The box look O.K. but when I opened it this was what I found so know I am trying to get the parts to fix it just thought I would add my 2 cents in there
