Hi there,

I started the complete restoration of my Camino.

I can't remove the ignition switch from the dash board ! what's the trick ?

I can't completly unscrew the ring that hold the switch to the dashboard because of the shape of the switch that is just larger than the ring.

there is a little tiny hole in the face of the switch : I tried pushing wire a metal wire inside... did nothing.

can somebody help ?

by the way, I don't have the keys anymore so I will change the ignition switch and door locks. if you have that for sale send me an email.

thanks !
Olivier

Insert key into lock, insert paper clip end into small hole and push in, turn key and pull out lock cylinder, unscrew bezel and remove switch.

The key is the key. I don't know any other way. Anyone else?

It's a lock on finding a locksmith.

I believe that in '60 the door key is the same as the ign. switch. pull the door/glovebox lock and it has the key code #'s on the side. if not they can open it find the cuts. then use the wire. Been there, done that

Thanks Pat

ok. let say I find the key code # on the glove box lock or door lock.

Who will be able to make me new keys ? I mean I'm in France, so if I go to a key maker with my number and ask him to make me new keys, he will look at me like a martian...

Is there a US company that could make and send me the new keys just by giving them the code # ?

thanks

I called the chevy dealer (Polar Chevrolet in mn.) They told me to check locks on your car till you find the #, some locks were missed when numbered. And then just about any Chevy/GM dealer can cut you new keys. Other wise a locksmith can open it and cut a key from it.
