On Sunday, April 24th at Kansas City International Raceway, there is a drag race for high school students. The gates open at 8 a.m. and time trials start at 9 a.m. I dont know if anyone that reads this is the KC area and is/has a high school student, but just thought Id post it up here. I think entry is around $15, and a racing helmet is required. Im almsot positive they have them there for rent, but Im not sure on the cost tho. If anyone has/knows a HS students w/ a muscle car, Id love to not be the only one to hopefully brings some credit back to american muscle. www.kcir.net

If they still do it like they used to, all people can race. They just call it the "alumni" class. I raced there when I was in high school when KY102 sponsered the event. Shows my age a little. Don't need a hotrod either, just a DL, a helmet and a seatbelt. It is a lot of fun. Do go if you can.

I would be there with my 1968 Plymouth Barracuda S 408 small block/ 5 speed but high school ran out on me 2 years ago plus I live in Washington, MO. It's about 4.5 hours from KC.

Yeha, I wish my elky would be doen by then, but theres no way.. kidna sucks, but Im still goin to watch, its gonna be, I live in OP which is a richer part of KS, and supposedly this kids dad has a V12 Aston Martin Vanquish, and hes takin it out there, another kids parents supposedly have a Ford GT, kidna takes the fun outta it, if the car doesnt have any meaning to you, but o well.

Man the drags were awesome, I saw like prolly 4 or 5 elkys, I think there were all prostreet or modded tho. Um there were actually quite a few muscle cars. Saw some good Camaro/Firebird (LT1 and LS1) vs Stang races (5.0 and 4.6), and of course the chevys owned. I dont knwo why people talk 5.0s up so much there was like 2 or 3 5.0 Cobras and they were gettin rocked. I think the fastest time I saw was a 13.2 in the HS division. It was a sharp LS1 Camaro. But yeah it was lots of fun, if anyone has a HS student, I would sugest letting them go to the one this fall at KCIR.
