This is what I would like to get for my 1980 Camino, but I wanted to ask thr group if anyone can warn me of any problems I may run into using this application.
American Racing Torq-Thrust II Wheels
Size: 18x8, Finish: Polished
Bolt Pattern: 5x120.65, Offset: 6
Front Tires:
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position Tires
Size: 245/40ZR18
Rear Tires:
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position Tires
Size: 255/40ZR18
BigWheels.net says it should fit the vehicle nicly, but I just want to double check before dropping $2500. Thanks Guys/Gals. 8)

I can't see a 6" Backspacing working unless you have some other chassis under the body. The El Camino chassis will not take 6" backspacing especially on the front. Best you'd be able to do is 4.25 back with unmolested frame rails, not with those tires though. So, 4" with those tires on back. I'd go no more than 3.75 on the front with those tires.
I'm positive that 6" backspacing is not going to work front or rear. not on a stock elky and if its lowered any you'd be good to actually have the measurments made at someplace like Discount Tires. Some tire stores don't have the equipment some do.
18 wheels are not a big issue. Also your changing the overall height of the tire so you will have to change the Speedomenter driven gear and possibly both drive and driven gear.
I'd also get a better web site to look up backspacing on. The one you looked at is wrong and wrong on a very simple measurment. Seems like they only want to sale you the wheels.
Good Luck with the 18" wheels and 6" Backspacing. Oh, and I believe the bolt pattern is 5 X 4.25 or something like that.

Is offset the same as backspacing though. I still don’t know the quality of this, although someone on the forum recommended it to me, but their offset does not even have the option of a 4.25... it says the Camino can handle an offset of -10 to 15. I am not really sure how that relates to back spacing.. I don't want to seem like I am arguing with you Elkypete, i appreciate your response, I just want to get my terms correct.
I also checked the American Racing website and it lists the same type of rim, 18x8 - custom offset, as having a 4 - 5.25 max back spacing.. damn this is real confusing

Offset is NOT backspacing. The 6 probably refers to 6mm of offset (about nothing.) Just stick with 4" back spacing. That bolt pattern is in mm also, but it's the same as the correct 5x4.75" lug pattern (you're still getting the lug pattern wrong Pete :P ) They should fit fine and look good. Consider stiffer springs to prevent the tires from rubbing around turns (not sure if that will happen anyway) By the way, the tire diameter is almost exactly the same as stock in the rear (where it counts) 26.03" vs. 26.08" Good deal.

Hopefully you'll look at upgrading the brakes with 18" wheels.
Big mistake a lot of people make when adding unsprung weight.

Yea, I pan to do an all around Baer Brake conversion when i actully do it. Actully, what happened was I wanted Baer Brakes at first, but the performance rotors only fit rims as small as 16", so thats when i started looking around for new rims and tires. Anybody know how much a set of used Keystone Classic can sell for?

(you're still getting the lug pattern wrong Pete :P )
There is just somthing about that number I like who knows why!?! Yep that is sort of why I said "Or something like that." I suppose I should have said nothing. But then.... :D
Truthfully, to me it's not all that important so I don't retain it. If you have to get wheels most places will set you right. If your picking them from a catalog its always best to talk to a live body to make sure everyone is on the same page. My thoughts anyway.
But Still I should try to remember that 4.75" not 4.25" four and three quarters..Four and three quarters.Four and three quarters. I have only 18 more times to repeat that. Four and three quarters. I think its after 21 times you memorize the number.
later
Four and three quarters. :D

Just an additional question, From what I understand it seems to be agreed that this setup should work on my camino.. do you think i would be able to increase the rear wheel to a 265 without any rubbing, without having to roll the edge?
