Hi,

I´m trying to find out what kind of gearbox my el camino has. The gearbox is still in the car but it is not working. I found something that looks like a serialnumber on it, 8647578. And there is a round mark that looks like a datestamp it reads 3-11-85. Are there any visual differences that can distinguish a 350 from a 400?

Is there a 350 with electronic overdrive?

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

Rikard

There is a vacuum line coming from the passenger side of each transmission, the TH400 points to the side and is located about halfway down the length, the TH350 line starts out pointing aft and is located closer to the rear.

Go here: http://www.maliburacing.com/
then select the automatic transmission identification option---there should be enough info to help you there .................Dan
