I was thinking about running a spool on the street, and was wondering if it's a good idea. Looking for some feedback on this subject...

No don't do it---its hard on axles and makes your car steer like you are on ice all the time----just sucks...............Dan

NOT IF YOU EVER PLAN ON TURNING. Sorry, couldn't resist. If you only drive on the street once or twice a year it would probably be ok. Other than that I would not recommend it.

I give up....what is a spool??
I mean besides something the wife uses to wind thread about.

A spool replaces the spider gears in a differential. In effect it locks the axles together so that they always turn at the same speed, even when going around a corner.

Try a powertrax, it gives you the advantages of a spool in a straight line, but will allow you to make those turns.

I recently installed one in my 69 Camaro about 300 miles ago, and so far I'm very please. The install time took about 2 hours, start to finish.

Good luck,
Kris
