Hey folks, my name is Chris, age 25 and in the Riverdal,GA area, just recently signed up with the forums. Don't have an El Camino yet, but I am in the market for a fixer-upper. I have my first question already and need some input.

I have my eyes on a '77, it has major rust in the passenger floor (can see ground), a few cosmetics like the hood hinges need replaced and seats repaired. The back window doesnt look like there is much/any rust. The only concern I have is the rear crossmember on the frame has what looks like 2 'bends' in it (it doesnt seem to have bent the whole frame though, just put a notch in it like superman pushed down on it with his thumbs :D ). The price is very reasonable I think < $600. Supposedly it drives..what do you guys think?

I would take it to a reliable mechanic and have them check it out. Frame damage is VERY expensive to correct and sometimes it requires a complete replacement from another car. Take it to Hoffman Tire in Fayetteville if you don't have a good mechanic yourself and have them look at it. They are straight up guys.
I work in Peachtree City and live in Sharpsburg if you want to bring it by for my humble opinion on it. I'd be happy to give it a once-over. Send me a Private message with your phone number.
