I have installed a new headliner in my '68 and it looks good but I have been fighting with it to pull the wrinkles/rolls out of it. Is there a special tool/method that tightens the headliner while you're putting the U-trim on? I've tugged and pulled my brains out and STILL have ripples in the headliner :( Any suggestions would be helpful....Thanks!

Well I redid mine again, and my first mistake was not to pulled the foam off of the headliner board, it caused it sagg terriblly... This time, the only foam that was on the board was from the material!! I do know that when u spray the glue you should make sure it's nice and even.

Hope this helps

I think Moneypit is talking about a headliner with bows in it like the older Elkys had.
In that case..a hair dryer will work to heat up the liner as you stretch and pull out the wrinkles..

It is a lot of work. Sometimes, well more often than not, those bows get rusty and not smooth. That is the first thing to clean the bows really well so the fabric will slide well and lay better onto them. This will halp a lot when stretching. Then I've used a hairdryer and had a buddy help. Be careful with who the buddy is, mine ripped a hole in the " first one. :D Magalla Gorilla types aren't all that good to have help sometimes.
