Hopefully I will within a few months... I know it's more customary to usually do a '59 or '60 in flat black, but I'm going to spray my '71 with it once it warms up a little more. Going with John Deere Blitz Black.. $20 a gallon and very tough. It's just too cold to spray now. I know my car looks OK in the pics, but the pics do a great job of hiding the rust and dings. :D It should look really good with my body colored wheels, they'll still be emerald green, and I'll proabably spray some scallops or paint some pinstripes to match.

How is your Maaco job and how much did it cost? I'm also conisdering that instead of the Blitz Black. Neither paint job is going be on for more than a few years, when I can restore it correctly. For now I just want to preserve it so it doesn't get worse.

with a little bit of body work done and the bottom of the line paint choice the paint job costed $841.42

My 67 elky is currentlly in black primer and I think it looks pretty mean like that. I may keep it that way and drive while I build up my funds some to do the interior.
I just fired the 396 I transplanted into it the other night but I had to hot wire it in order to start it. I think my ignition may be bad as nothing happens when you turn the key, no dash lights, clicks or nothing. Oh while I'll figue it out eventually.
I'll post pics of it in primer if I can get my damn camera to work so you can see what it looks like rat rod style.

Hard to tell what brand your "slot mags" are but these were extremely popular in the 60's-70's. If your '68 Elky didn't have Crager SS or Slot Mags, you were not too cool.

All are based on the original Ansen Sprint II as outlined here:

http://www.roadsters.com/wheels/#Ansen

Mine were cheapo Fenton's that I bought off a guy for $25 for the set. I read somewhere that American Racing (or someone) was going to reissue the "slot mags" as new, billet aluminum versions. Guess the nostalgia craze in hot rodding will bring back just about anything.

I'm a fan of the "old school" style wheels such as the slotted mags and the turbine wheels (which I happen to have on the '85). I picked up a pair of aluminum slotted mags at the local flea market for $20 that may end up on a future project, not sure what though..

Yep, American Racing has brought them back, and they look pretty spot on.

A bit expensive though. I picked up my last set for $50 at a yard sale... And I see them in the junkyards all the time.

Another classic wheel is called the Outlaw: http://www.wheelsforless.com/search_result.asp?Product_ID=AR6258 These are still popular today, and IMO are pretty nice looking. I have a few sets of these.

On top of the fact that AR brought back the wheels which i totally dig. They have them available in 17's. Im waiting to see pictures of these in this size because its definitely a possibility for my El if they look good

Gsir8,
What's the story with that rolling chassis sitting underneath that blue tarp?
