I need to replace the felt that the window tracks in. Has anyone out there done this? What is the procedure for fitting the felt?

Are you talking about the "Track Felts" not the wiper felts? We did an interior restoration on a 70 Camino and those felts, we got them from OPGI, just fit inside the channel. I used a small amout of 3M weather strip sealant in places but not along the entire channel and only small spots. Once the window is rolled up the felts are heald in place by the window.

The old felts were not hard to remove and didn't seem to have any adheasive on them from the factory. The replacements were one long piece that fit along the entire track. I had the vent windows removed at the time I took the old stuff off. We had re-painted the Elky and re did the interior.

If you are talking about the exterior felts with the chrome bead at the bottom, you need to take the top of the interior panel off, drop the window glass and then get at the three or four small screws which hold the piece in place. It should take less than an hour for each side. It is possible to get the screws out of the ends without dropping the glass and breaking off the one in the center and not replacing it. Not highly recommended but certainly easier and hard to notice. Should not affect performance or appearance either. Have fun with it.

That is true for forth and fifth Gens but not all. I think that year the outside had small clips but you still needed to remove the inside panel and unstaple the inside felts and pop rivit them back on.
