I really need your help, guys! Somebody cleared my checking account yesterday and I'm literally broke! Last withdrawal out of my account came from a company called "Keep on rollin' rim & tire" and I have had no luck tracking this business down. I have a feeling this is a supplier of custom wheels for imports and such but I'm not sure. If any of you has heard of this business or could give me any help, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm literally grasping for straws, ANY help is useful.

Contact your bank now...Lock all your accounts...if they can get to your checking, they can get to your savings account and whatever else you've got under that account #!

Is your bank helping? Mine"s went to bat for me a few times. They should be able to track purchases. Was it by check # or debit card? I had a company try to charge me twice for an item (around $200) and they gave me a printout and the managers phone # to have them call if they gave me abunch of crap. Good luck.

Thank you guys for responding. I discovered this while looking at my account online and unfortunately the account activity isn't that specific, it only says withdrawal and if it had been done with a check, the check number would appear but not much else. The bank sends me a more detailed breakdown of my account's activity through the snail mail but it'll be long before I see that. I had my card cancelled and everything shut down but they're going to send me some forms to fill out and I'll have to send them back and then they can start dealing with this issue of "dispute". I really hope this is some human error rather than me being the victim of an identity theft or some hacker having a good time at my expense. :(

Here are another couple of points to ponder regarding on line security...

Never let Windows automatically remember passwords...while it may be convenient for you it is also a great convenience to a hacker to access bank accounts, on line finances etc.

Make sure you use a decent firewall on your pc. The firewall/router units are becoming cheaper by the day and are very easy to install.
There are also some software firewalls that work quite well http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp as well if you are using windows XP make sure the firewall feature is enabled.
Make sure you check Windows update (or Whatever your O.S.) website for security updates on a regular basis, they are always updating them.
Also check for updates on your virus definition files (DAT).

Watch what information you give out on line...some of the forms these sites have are even asking birth dates, gender, full addresses and phone numbers. Much of it is information they do not require and once it has left your hands there is no retrieving it....when in doubt...decline .

Don't want to pee on everyones Cornflakes but the crooks are getting smarter these days and have no qualms about screwing people out of thier money.
And like the Sarge on Hill Street Blues use to say..."Lets be Careful out there!"

One trick that I set up is that I have a second checking and savings account at the bank that is not linked to my primary. When I have to give out an account number (to PayPal, for example), I use those account numbers exclusively.

I only keep a very small amount of money in them. When I am going to use them to make a payment, I transfer money from my main account sufficient to meet the need, but nothing more. That way, if anyone ever DOES try to clean them out the worst that happens is that I am out about $30 total (plus any induced fees) unless they get lucky in the timing. There is no linkage to let these 'front' accounts pull from my main account if they get forced into overdraft, so my 'real' money is safe.

It helps that my credit union has silly low minimum balance requirements for accounts. This might be expensive to do (in either fees or tied-up money) at some banks. But the theory is sound...

Very sorry to hear of this G...I detest thieves of any sort. Aside from the above advice, keep your check copies from getting to the trash and always mail your bills from a mailbox instead of clipping them outside on yours. Texas is full of trash these days and it's just going to get worse over time....guard your account info! Some banks reverse the unauthorized transactions...hope yours does.

I can't find words strong enough to describe my gratitude for your support and good advice. It sure makes me feel good to know that you are out there and ready to help a fellow in time of need. Thank you all again, I really appreciate your help.

My bank will reimburse me, I've got to fill out forms and paperwork but they assured me that my money will be back and all fees and penalties for insufficient funds will be voided. As soon as I figure out how this happens, I'll let you know. In the meantime, all my passwords will be changed, the computer brought up to date and my money distributed evenly in a couple of accounts so I'll have a little something if something weird like this should ever happen again.

Iceman, I'm glad to hear it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
