I've tried different polishes on chrome, but would like other opinions. Has anybody used Hot Environment Chrome Polish (http://www.englishcustompolishing.com/usca/hotchrome.html)?

I'm also considering a product called PERFECT DETAIL SURFACE ENHANCER (http://www.ppcexcels.com/prdetail.htm) from Protective Products Corp. Has anybody used this product?

I'm not really looking for a cleaner, as the chrome is brand new. I just want a product to preserve, protect, and make the chrome shine the best.

Thank

Go here (http://autopia.org/review/censura.php?cmd=browse&category_id=9) for some reviews. Personally I've always used Mother's Billet Polish for heavy duty polishing and NeverDull for general maintenance.

Autosol is the best metal polish I ever used. However it does have abrasives and "if" I had perfect chrome I would use a good wax only.

believe it or not... I saw this on a "Mythbusters" episode, they took a fancy chrome polish like ones you'll see here, and a wad of aluminum foil from the grocer. Each guy did half of the same chrome bumber and when done, you could not tell the difference 8O
The foil steps were easy, wad up a piece of foil and use polishing like circular motions, no mess and cheap.
I haven't tried it myself (I have no scrap chrome) but if someone here has a piece (which may or may not get scratched) please try this comparison and post results here.

That's insane! No way could a wad of foil not cause scratches. I'm sure they were not visible on the TV but the foil would HAVE to scratch the chrome. I wouldn't try this if I were you.

they showed closeups on TV... no scratches visable... but I would like someone to post before and after pics before I totally believe it..,

Sorry brother, but I will have to pass on that one :? . I can't really believe that tin foil won't scratch the $hit out of my bumpers! Hell, tin foil scratches my toaster oven :)

Well I am skeptical also but I will try it. However I know that using even a mild abrasive on chrome will create very fine scratches which are hard to see but eventually dull the shine.

Only an idiot would use foil on a bumper

For general maintenance on chrome and polished stainless trim I use Flitz liquid metal polish. After you have removed any minor marks, Zaino or Meguiars NXT Generation polish works well to seal the surface. If you want your chrome to really shine the day of a show just clean it with a glass cleaner such as Windex. 8)

M-RON purple metal polish is the best I have every used only available at car shows not on the shelf product (look at my engine gallery pics). only use it as needed. will polish aluminum like chrome by hand or buffer if you work at it.
General maintence and cleaning and show prep "invisable glass" works amazinly well or just windex after all its a mirror finish and does not need polish unless it dirity or been let go.

Stunning engine compartment Jay!

LOL. You are way to funny with the "splash of chrome". I think there is a bit more than a "splash".

Congrats on your win at Super Chevy also. I'm going to the one up here in the North East the end of July. Ours was cancelled in 2004, but I did go in 2003. Took second place in Street with my old '72. I'm going to try entering in the "Stock" class this year.

0000 or 000 steel wool. then use windex. This is the best method period.
