hi i'm new to this and i also just an 83' elky. i need your help, how many miles to the gallon, would it be recomended to take the dash off to fix the oil pres gauge, volts gauge, and readjust the speedo?

MPG will depend on your driving habits. Probably about 17 possibly a little more.

Unless you talking about replacing the Speedo there are no adjustments to a speedometer so removing the dash, if your not replacing it, would be a wash same for most instrumentation. It is concievable that the flex wire is bad but I am thinking the best you could do, without replacing the gages would be to blow them out with air maybe clean the contacts.

Have you checked all your fuses? Also, Check your sending units to see if they're connected....

No, not to start with. What is the matter with each gauge and why do you think you need to adjust the speedometer?

In 1983 the EPA rated the engines that were used in the El Camino.

229ci....19MPG
305ci....17MPG
350ci....22MPG (Diesel)
