: Aluminum wheel cleaner!
Supercharged 86 04-25-2005, 04:42 PM Hey guys just got my Torque Thrust IIs mounted and I'm wondering what the best thing to use would be in order to keep them polished.
Lots of stuff is going on with the El so maybe I'll post a little update with pictures later on

Check out Zoops also. They have a nice coating to keep aluminum and billett pieces from ever needing polished again.

Mrapii 04-25-2005, 05:10 PM Those wheels should have a clear coating; use a good carnuba wax.

I did that and it turned out better than it was, but it seemed to make them a little more hazy looking than before and I did get all the wax of I thought. Are you sure they have a clear coat? I didn't know that. It would be nice though :)
txbusa 04-25-2005, 08:37 PM Torque Thrust II's are polished and do not have a clear protective coating applied at the factory.
They will take elbow grease as they get older.
Trust me, I asked before I bought mine. The alternative was to get the chrome plated TT's for almst double the price.

Supercharged 86 04-25-2005, 09:20 PM Well they're good enough for now. I just wiped them off, but figured I'll need something better for the future. Here are some pics I took. My blower's manifold got messed up. Once my new one comes and gets installed I can take it out for some better pictures

Bowtie 04-25-2005, 09:36 PM Mrapii is right. They SHOULD have a clearcoat, but they don't. Which prompts the question, Has anyone had any successful experience applying an after-market clearcoat?
I've always had a lot of respect for youse guys who love to polish those rims, but you see, I've got this medical problem. All that rubbing makes me sick! Take care..
LeoC2 04-26-2005, 10:37 AM ANy non-abrasive polish will work to get them shiny. Then apply at least three layers of a good polish such as Zaino Z2 or Meguiar's NXT to protect them. Aftere that it is just simple maintainance to keep them up. I use window cleaner to keep off the brake dust and shine them up. Reapply polish every couple of months.
What is MOST important is not to use an old towel or tee shirt. Use a proper detailing towel as the wrong thing will scratch your wheels real fast.

JEHONEY 04-26-2005, 03:33 PM Mother's has a product called Mag & Aluminum polish that shines and protects, and works pretty good.
I would like to know if anyone has tryed the spray on protectant. I have heard that it cost about $100 and it will last for about 2-3 years.
My TT's did not have a clear coat...........just polished aluminum!
txbusa 04-26-2005, 03:57 PM I just ordered some Zoops for my new TT II's.

Supercharged 86 04-27-2005, 10:27 AM Thanks guys for all the advice. Might have to invest in a few of your products Leo
LeoC2 04-28-2005, 03:14 PM I just heard some excellent reviews and praise for Poorboys Wheel Sealant. Testers have said their wheels are easily hosed off and stay clean after 2 or 3 coats. http://www.poorboysworld.com/wheel-sealant.htm
Supercharged 86 04-28-2005, 03:22 PM I might look into that. I just bought some Mother's Billet so I'll see how that works when I get around to cleaning the Camino up.
