Aloha all,

I just picked up a pair of H4656 Silver Stars from PEPBOYS and they only say H4656 on the box not H4656ST. Are these the same or do I need to take them back? Does anyone have a part number for both the H4656 and for the H4656ST?

Thanks again.

Okay,

This is what I found:

H4656
H4656ST Silverstar High Performance Lighting: The Whiter and Brighter Halogen
H4656XV XtraVision Halogen - The Brighter Light
H4656CB Cool Blue Halogen - The Whiter Light
H4656LL Long Life Halogen Upgrade: Lasts 6x longer

What is the part number for H4656 and the H4656ST as I am unable to locate anything that states these are two different headlights. I just want to make sure I purchased the right ones before getting on a plane a heading back to Hawaii.

Howdy John, Those ARE the part #'s. They are on the box of the light.
If the # on the box that you purchased is H4656 {"H" in front of the number indicates Halogen, and the Number that follows is the size of the light }
Then you have the standared Quarts Halogen Light, If the # on the box is followed by any of the pair of letters, ST /XV, /CB, /
IT IS THE SAME KIND OF LIGHT, only in a differant spectrum, or heat range of light, which to put it simply is the color of the light that is projected. The light spectrum ranges from a yellowish, to white, to blueish, with all the range of shades in between. Yellowish would fall in the range of the standard incandesent type of bulb, then you get to the halagon's ranges of whites, then the High Energey Discharge, or HID type that are in the blueish range. If your light # is followed by the letters
LL that would indicate a long life bulb.
With what I've read in your post's you will be fine with the lights you purchased, and you will see the differance when installed. As mentioned before, just be sure your contacts are clean / tight / and the relay is supplying full voltage at the lights, that's the NUMBER ONE FAULT FOR DIM
LIGHTING, IN CONGUNTION WITH BAD GROUNDS. I tried to give you a simple understanding on these lights, but in reality there is more to it. Hope I was able to help.

Just a side note: There are Halogen's that cast a bluieish, or greenish, or goldish, or even a rainbow color of light, and that is done by a coating that is on the bulb. Also ~~ NEVER touch a Halogen bulb with your bare hands, as the oils from your skin will cause them to burn out prematurely.

Mucho'z Mahalo'z.

I just wanted to make sure that I got what I paid for. After taking a really good look at the box they came in, I noticed that the part number ended in "ST". Ready to go back home to Hawaii ad try these lights out.

Again, thanks to all who replied.

Aloha and have a great day.

They also have the european citylight bulb in them as well. I paid $65 for mine delivered. I'm thinking of getting another pair and putting low beams inplace of the high beams. We can have 4 low beam headlights in TX so was thinking of running another switch to turn the inner low beams on with.

I installed a automatic switch on my '87 Olds years ago that automatically turns the inner low beams on when the high beams come on. Couldn't easily find anything on the .net today, but I'm sure with some searching, you could find something similar that would do this automatically for you. The device just connected across the hi-beam and lo-beam wires, one to ground and +12v and mounts under the hood. Bout as big as a pack of cigarettes. Easy.
