Seems to be a problem with the link Leo. It's a video of a baby getting tossed. _________________ Ernie

Well my personal opinion of John Stossel is that he is a corporate shill so I don't take much of what he has to say to heart anymore but there was some good information in the story.
Like I learned how to read a tire production date.
I don't know about the conclusions drawn though. For one thing Tires are less rubber and more silicone these days and most tires fail from improper inflation or overloading. Nowhere was that mentioned in the story and there wasn't a whole lot of input from the other side of the argument, which is typical for ABC news.
That said, I did have a set of less than a year old (By date code) Yokohamas fail on my old Camaro. All four developed sidewall splits and Discount tire replaced them for free under warranty.
I'd have to think there would be no point to keeping information like this under wraps though. I mean if everybody knew they had to change tires every 6 years like they need to change their oil ever x thousand miles people would most likely do it. It'd mean more money for the tire shops and manufacturers and more tax dollars. Of course it would also mean more tire landfills starting on fire like the one that's burning down here outside of PHX.
Anyway, at least there was some good info there...

Thanks Leo,
I looked at tires on my family car and they are OK. I am about to replace them anyway. And checked my new Riken Raptors made by Michelin for my hotrod Elcamino ( they are W rated) and they were made in Jan 08, so that's OK. But I know what to look for now! Thanks again Leo. _________________ Larry 3 in Hot Springs, AR
