While the TH700 is stronger and has a better low gear ratio, the 1-2 shift brings with it a fairly large RPM drop going into 2nd (3.06 to 1.8 something if memory serves). With a TH700, the GN's V6 turbo boost would probably fall flat going into 2nd with this tranny.
