I currenty have 245 x 60 x 15"s on the back of my 83 Elky. Can these go on the front and how big can I go on the back with 15's x 60.

I wanted to mount the largest tires I could to fill out my wheel wells, so I have 275/60/15's on the rear of my car, I just need to keep the air shocks inflated slightly to keep from rubbing on the wheel wells. I have 235/60/15's on the front. They rubbed on the inner wheel wells at first, but new front springs and shocks took care of that.
245/60's are almost a half inch taller than 235/60's, so whether they fit will depend on how low your car sits from the stock height. If the springs sag, or you have modified the front suspension, you may have to either run smaller tires or raise the suspension.
Ideally you could run 225/60/15's on front and 255/60/15's on back without much trouble. _________________

When I bought my 81 I had 295/50R15's in the back which are still there, and I had 265/50R15's on the front.
The front rubbed really bad against the sway bar, so I went down some with the tire profile, and added spacers. There's still a lot of rubbing up front. I may just drop to 14's on the front when I have the cash.
I went to push the Elky out from the carport...yeah, it's not running yet...and the tires did rub when turning the wheel all the way to the right. Didn't seem to rub turning it left, so I may be able to "fix" the prob. with an alignment. _________________ 1980 El CaminoSS

That's a big tire on the back. I have monte SS rims on mine with 235/60 for the momentl. With the 3.73 gears I was looking at going with a taller rear tire too. I like tall tires as they roll easier.
Any interference issues with that tire back there? And no mine is not lowered and never will be. I like driving without scraping the ground and the loiwer the car is to the ground the harder it is to get in and out. _________________ Robert Adams

I have C3 Corvette alloy rims on mine and I run Goodyear Eagle HR 225/60HR-15 sized tires on all 4 corners. The fronts rubbed at first, but last spring I swapped the front and rear wheels and the rubbing has stopped. The rears either could stand to be bigger or I could put spacers in the back to fill out the wheelwells a bit more.

I have 235/60/15 on all 4 corners...
Will be replacing them very soon for some new ones, Thought about going down a size because the front does rub just a tad... I don't want the larger size in the back because then you cannot rotate them, and burnouts are not as fun _________________

Hmm. I'm running 235/60R15 on MCSS rims and I had a little rubbing on the pass side inner wheel well but only on very hard compression like going through a dip pretty fast or going up a steep incline like the driveway where you have to go up at 45* and that tire gets shoved all the way to the bump stops.
Up front I'd go witl slightly more backspacing but that depends on your sway bar as well. Using the F-body bar helps as it's a little narrower.

AND AS MY NEPHEW GAVE ME 4 15" RALLY RIMS OFF A CAMARO THAT HAD 215P65 TIRES ON THEM BUT I WAS AFRAID THEY MIGHT RUB. . . . THANKS AGAIN. . . . EL-C IS GONNA GET NEW BOOTS ! BARRY-MARYLAND
I have an 85 caballero and 275 50r15 on 90 model firebird rims and they sure look nice but they rub.. what is the proper amount of backspacing i need... even with 3/8 of spacers they still rub...
and how can i measure for what will fit best.... i may go with a 10" rim....if i have to buy new wheels
