I know with the economy the way it is people are having to cut back on spending, especially when it comes to projects like cars or homes. I spent a lot of money on my El Camino in 2007, but hardly spent any in 2008 because I didn't have any "extra" money available. It got so bad I put my car up for sale for several months because I didn't know if I was going to be able to afford to keep it. Luckily I intentionally priced it higher than I expected the going rate to be so if I did sell it, I would get back at least most of the money I invested in it. Luckily it didn't sell and now I can continue to enjoy the fruits of my labor.
The good news is I got a promotion recently that came with a very nice raise. I figure within a couple months I'll be able to start ordering parts again.
The bad news is this promotion means I'll be traveling for work a lot more and may not have as much time to spend working on / enjoying my car.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging, I don't mean to. I am just excited about the new position, and the pay increase is going to take a lot of stress off my budget.
Hopefully 2009 finds everyone here in a better financial state. _________________

i understand your predicament. up until a year ago, i was working in a mill here. the mill shut down and now i am going to school to learn a better trade. i am sure i will be getting a decent job when i get done, but it won't be like i have been used to, and probably will require moving away from here at the very least.
i have been slowly thinning out all the junk i have.....including some stuff i really don't want to get rid of, just because i know it will be a problem trying to pack all this stuff with me when i go. you do what you have to do. _________________ Rob Tabish

I am glad to hear of your good fortune, congrats.! I find myself in a similar situation. I hope the wheel of fortune truns my way. I just wanted to thank you for reminding me things change, hopefully for the better. Luck can be on your side.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Congratulations on the promotion.
I have a job which requires long hours and frequent travel for months on end. This really slowed my project last year but we prevail and finally get there.
Stick with it mate. _________________ John (from Down Under)
