I personally would not drive anywhere on 21-year old tires, they would not be safe. Could start coming apart on the highway. Sorry to spread this kind of info on your sale, but buyers need to know this, their life could be on the line.

I just replaced the 12-year of tires on my Mustang, they only had 2000 miles on them and 95% of the tread left. But I noticed the tread was getting a little hard but with no sign of side wall cracking or rot. You can't tell by just looking at a tire to determine if it's safe to drive.

Doug, the intent of the tires is to use for show purpose. When we do a quality restoration where we bring back originality - we use quality original tires like the ones i have for sale for purpose of show.

Generally most show car guys have a second set of wheels and tires for use when they want to drive the car.

Thanks for clearing that up Ed. I just wanted to inform buyers that 21-year old tires would not be safe for driving. Good luck with your sale. Beer

I still wouldn't use them no matter what. These tires are too old, they can blow at any time including just moving the vehicle off the trailer or just sitting there at a car show. IMO it's playing with fire. You can easily and inexpensively get duplicates from Coker Tire and others that are made from the original molds and look exactly like the originals.

leo - appreciate what your opinion is - and everyone has one.

These tires are not repoped to match originals as you imply.

Also - if anyone is interested - the tires and wheels can be seperated.

I believe Leo was just mentioning that th safer route would be to get repops. I don't think he was accusing you of having done that.
