I need advise on removing the smog junk from my elky. I know it won't improve my HP or any of that jazz. I am concerned with the plumbing aspect of it. I know I have to cap off the injection ports, but are there any vacuum lines that need to be capped, tapped, rapped, or scrapped? After all, there is a lot of darn hoses hooked up to that hunk of junk.
I have an after market carb and I am not concerned with passing an EPA sniffer. The cat has already been neutered. I am trying to dress up my engine bay for show and go so the less pointless mess I have the better. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!! _________________ Faith is the one thing you should never give up.

Thanks Tom,
I didn't want to start rippen and end up with that "Oh S--T" situation. I'm sure none of us have done that. I've got a show Saturday morning so the rippen will start after I get back. Maybe I will feel better popping the hood once some of those hoses are gone. Something about looking under the hood and seeing an ocean of plumbing, subtracts from the overall look of a nice vehicle. _________________ Faith is the one thing you should never give up.
I did this when installing headers. . There is like one vac. line that needs to be plugged and it is much cleaner w/o them hoses. I think half of the hoses in there were dedicated to air injection. _________________ NRA

once all the hoses are removed, will the computer recognize the missing air pressure and recalibrate its self? I'm still running the stock quadrajunk on mine and it runs good, i get 25-26 mpg and it's reliable. I just don't want to mess that up.
My smog pump's diverter valve has an electrical connection - if that is disconnected, wouldn't it throw a check engine light? Prevent closed-loop operation?
