I swapped in a roller cammed 355 in place of my 305. Most of the work is done, But I have two problems left. First is that because I went to a center bolt (vortec) head with tall valve covers, the A/C brackets wont allow the compressor to fit properly. Second, I have an Edelbrock AVS carb, and there is no provision for throttle cable, TV cable, cruise control, or the solenoid that boosts the idle for the A/C to prevent stalling. Any help much appreciated.

Edelbrock makes a Vortec specific throttle cable bracket for their carbs. Not sure you'll be able to hook the cruise up to it. As for the A/C clearance issues. Do you have to run tall valve covers? If not find a cheap set of stockers for now and get some nice aluminum ones later.

I have Vortec heads on my 350 and an Edelbrock 600 CFM carb.

I got a Trans-Dapt bracket at the local parts store, it attaches to the carb mounting bolts so it doesn't matter which heads you use. I don't know if this will locate the cruise cable, but it has brackets for the throttle and kick-down cables.

Here it is on the Summit Site

Steve, thanks for the info on the linkage. Im going to look at the link you sent and then call the Edelbrock tech line Monday to se if they have a similar product. Tom, I have to run the tall valve covers to clear the roller rockers. I may fire up the plasma cutter and welder to extend the stock brackets and run a different belt.

You can always swap to an F-body serpentine belt set up. That will clear the tall valve covers. There are a couple for sale at thirdgendotorg in the classifieds. But plasma cutters are always fun to play with.

I made the stock AC setup work, its at the far end of the adjustment with a 1 inch longer belt. I obtained a Linkage adapter from Jegs that hooks up my 700R4 TV cable, and the CC and throttle cable also. When I finish my exhaust system tomorrow I will post a pic or holeshot video when the beast is unleashed.
