Hey, all...
Just wanted to drop a line and say HELLO! Been lurking for a while (waiting to pick up my '87) and thought I would fianlly make myself known. Just moved to the area from Hawaii (Just retired from the Navy) and am getting setteled in. I am now living in Jamestown.
I posted a shout with some pictures on the general newbie page, but upon advice from Ernie, I wanted say HI to the locals.
I heard there will be a car show in Newport this weekend and plan to attend. Maybe I'll run in to some of you there. Take care and I'll see you around.
Hey Duane, I gave you a welcome in the other forum, so that's all you get. heh, heh. Kidding of course. I'm over in Fairhaven, Ma. and try to make most of the local shows, but think I'm done for this year.
Look foward to meeting you and checking out your Elk next season. _________________ Mark

Hey Duane,
Welcome to our little Region 2 club -- glad you decided to take the plunge and expose yourself to some of our losal New England characters --- go easy on him (for a while) guys!
It is kind of difficult to imagine leaving Hawaii to retire in New England - when most of us dream about retiring TO Hawaii.
Glad to have you here, though. Hope to run into you soon. _________________ Tom

Thanks for the welcome....
Many find it hard to believe that I would leave Hawaii for somewhere less tropical. I also spent 3 years in Guam prior to that. It is safe to say that I have had my fill of one continuous season. It was nice to actually buy a pair of pants and shoes (as compared to shorts and flip-flops).

Let me add my "Welcome to the region" as well, Duane!
I work in Newport, live mid-state and drive through Jamestown 5 days a week. I know personally of two car guys in your town. One owns a 68 Vette and the other a 59 Edsel that'll be part of a Halloween display tonight. There's also a F#@rd group that meets at Beaver tail Sundays about sunset, though I'm not sure how often they meet through the Winter.
Know of about 6 or 9 other Elky owners in the area. Looks like we're going to have to have our own exclusive RI El Camino show in the Spring.
Looking forward to meeting you soon. If you're in Newport weekdays, let's do lunch somewhere? In the mean time if you need anything to help you get situated, send an email or a PM.
