Aloha all,
Still new to the "El Camino Family". Like most others, I rely on you folks to tell me what real and whats "really B...Sh!t". I saw these replacement headlights on Ebay and what to know if any one has ever purchashed/used these? Let me know as they look kind of interesting.
Thanks inadvance for all who reply. Hope this link works?

They will work. BUT ~~~ NOT any better than any other Halogen, like the silver stars, at any auto parts house. He sure wants ALOT for shipping. I'd shy away from them if it were me. But you asked if they'd work, and they will.
$36.00 to where you are. WOW! (and I bet that's by BOAT, 6 to 8 weeks)

they are really only good if you want to convert to HID lights. because you can then buy an HID kit from ebay with ballasts and an H4 bulb that will fit that housing. that's what I plan to do, but with a different housing.
as far as shipping cost, that's how they make money. they do that to avoid fees and taxes. _________________

I just picked up a set of Silver Stars while on vacation in LA. Not really sure what those headlights will look like next to those projector type. I think it may be a little to "messy or busy" considering I will be going with the billet grill. More than likely, will get the Silver Star Hi Beam units too.
Thanks again and will keep ya posted. Maybe even add a picture when I get back to the islands. _________________ Aloha and have a great day!
Do I need to get my headlights "re-aimed" after I put in the new headlights, or is it just remove the frame from around my headlight and drop the new ones in? _________________ Aloha and have a great day!

If your current headlights are adjusted properly then all you need to do is remove the 2 headlight bevels and then remove ea, headlight frame and replace lights with the new ones. Just don't mess with the adjustment screws(2 per light. one on top center and the other on the left center for ea. light).
......... while on vacation in LA. ....... when I get back to the islands.
not to threadjack, but i guess it seems odd that people in hawaii need to go on vacation......and LA is a vacation destination
i suppose a lot of things are more expensive over there. but a lot of stuff on ebay isn't that much of a good deal anymore because of the people who abuse the system. since you have to ship anyway, did you check ebay.au, ebay.ca or ebay.ja [for the Australian, Canadian and Japanese ebay listings]? _________________ Rob Tabish

My parents still live in LA so this will always be a vacation spot. Too much surf and sand is hard on the skin as well as the wax on the car . Yep, like you said, people abuse the shipping system when they charge more for shipping just because it is Hawaii or AK. A 41 cent stamp in NY is a 41 cent stamp in Hawaii.
I have ordered items from EBAY, paid the "Hawaii Shipping and Handling Charges" of $20.00, got the package and it cost $3.00 to ship it, but $17.00 to "handle it". Totall Bull Sh*t, but thats why its almost cheaper to have items shipped to LA, then have my parents ship it the rest of the way to Hawaii. Adds about 3 days to the process, but cheaper by far.
Also, tried the other EBAYS' and they are even worse than dealing with the mainland (48 states) Ebay. _________________ Aloha and have a great day!
Put them in already....quite impressive and much much brighter. I do think they need to be re-aimed though. Now I have to do something about the grill and headlight surrounds as they look old as compared to the Silverstars. Oh yeah, found out the packaging changed but the part numbers remained the same.
Aloha to all. _________________ Aloha and have a great day!
Just put those silverstars in about two weeks ago and now they stopped working. They only work when the highbeams are on. The low beam function no longer works. It has to be the headlights because I switched back out to the orginals and they work, both high beam and low beam. Because I do not want to purchase new ones right away, I have unplugged my high beam headlights (center most/inside ones) and am using the silver star highbeam portion for headlight function.
Anyone ever had any issue witht the silverstars going bad in a really short amout of time. Nothing else had a problem, all other lights in the car and out side seem to be working fine. I went back to Checker where I bought them and they stated they cannot take returns or exchanges on electrical items regardless if you have a reciept or not! John,
Perform a continuity test on the silverstars to see if they are in fact bad.
It's hard to beleave that BOTH went out at the same time. Clean all contacts, which I'm sure you have already done. You can also use a jumper,
one for ground, one for positive, apply to the termanals
of the silverstars, and see if they work. I'd say also check your dimmer switch, even though your standard bulbs work. _________________ http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_CoyoteOn2s77Cage.html

Will definetly give that a try in the morning. I was heart broken with those lights stopped working. I surely hope that it is something else as I would hate to throw them out. I like the ability to replace just the element in the H4 conversions I just don't like the look of the lense. At the end of it all the siverstart are still cheaper to replace.
Will let you know what happens. _________________ Aloha and have a great day!
