Hello all, First of all I found this site while researching El Camino's. Love it here and have already learned a tremendous amount of stuff. This site is awesome.
Anyway here's my situration. I have wanted an El Camino for EVER!! I have located one that is a 1979, 60,000 original miles, absolutely perfect interior, no tears rips stains etc etc. However here's the bad! The thing is freaking puke brown and has one of those God awful toppers on it. Absolutely no rust in the car anywhere. Overall it is an exceptionally solid car. I realize that color is simply changed via the spray gun. The car will not be used as a daily driver. More of a weekend driver to the store or to church or something!!!!
The car is located in the midwest too. I'm sure region makes a difference.
Thank you in advance for your responses. I look foreward to learning a lot here on this site.
Anyway my question is the guy is asking a little over $4K for it. Is this a good price to pay?

Welcome, Aaron. If the car is truly rust free then I would say well worth 4K. Low miles and no rust are very hard to come by. Good luck with it. _________________ Jim

Now in regards to yor question:

Simply put ~~ The Elky is worth whatever you are willing to pay for it.
To some it might be worth only a Grand, and to others, 8 Grand.
Good, SOLID Elkies are at a premium, and are not that easy to come by.
In my opinon, IF YOU don't aquire this Elky for the 4 G's, rest assured,
the next guy to come along surely WILL. So set your mind at ease, IT WILL have a good home and be taken good care of. _________________ http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_CoyoteOn2s77Cage.html

Well I went across town and threw the guy a low ball offer. Ended up walking away with the thing for $3200.00 cash. I was all kinds of happy. I have to replace a valve cover gasket tomorrow and then she will be good to go. I would really like to believe that it has 36K original on it. I guess it's completely possible judging by the interior. AWESOME

One bit of advise tho ~~~ Take photos, lots of photos, and post them.
We all love photos here at ECC, just so you know.
Good luck, but then again, guess you don't need any as it seems you've already got it. _________________ http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_CoyoteOn2s77Cage.html
