Found out Thursday morning when I got to work. Had just been at my desk for a few minutes when the boss man called me into his office. Says I've got till the end of the month to find another job. I'm glad he was able to give me that long, but another local company just closed putting 150 people looking for jobs around here too... times is slow... good thing we have such wonderful politicians looking out for us dum cuntry folk...
Well, Dad has a friend who's been asking about Caminos. I'm not sure if he's wanting a 4th gen, but if he is, I may let mine go. May also let it go to Dad, and Dad sell his Sprint. Either way it sucks...
But my friends tell me this may not be all that bad. Now when I'm back on my feet I can find a good clean '71, which is really my favorite year... _________________

I think we should hold elections every year...well not really elections, but evaluations, on ALL our politicians we elect (local state and Federal). Let's say we elect someone to a particular public office (just for the sake of argument, let's use the Presidency as an example) for 4 years...each year, in November...we the people collectively decide that he or she has or hasn't been living up to our expectations...we submit our evaluations by ballot (those who want to participate) and the determination is made whether we keep and pay him for another year or fire his butt for poor job performance and the next guy in line takes the position...until it's his turn to be evaluated the following year. I know that if I didn't exhibit good job performance where I work, my company wouldn't hesitate to fire me! I guess my idea though, isn't really realistic...most of our elected officials would be getting replaced every year. _________________ "The day we lose our will to fight is the day we lose our freedom" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG4fe9GlWS8

I too am sorry to hear that. You Americans are doing it so tough at the moment and I can tell you Australia is not far behind you but we do have a better health care and social security system than yours.
Good luck for the future. _________________ John (from Down Under)

That's true, but you want to know why? Because the "illuminated" majority in this country don't want a better health care system or social security system. To them, that makes a us a socialist country. "shakes head in disgust".

I wish I could live down there.
Yeah, it is good down here but I do love America too.
One thing to consider about all our social security and health care, our taxes are some of the highest in the world. _________________ John (from Down Under)

Just felt like an update, since I'm back at work today. Been off for a few days burning up vacation. Had an interview yesterday that sounds pretty good. It would also cut my daily commute from around 70 miles a day to about 40...
Also, Dad and I are working on a deal with a friend of mine to do some Camino swapping. If it works out like we're talking now. Dad will end up with mine, my friend will end up with Dad's Sprint, and I'll end up with some cash and a '71 with no engine/tranny...
I REALLY hate to be without a Camino, but if I can get my hands on another '71 for future use... I'll be okay. I also have an '87 Chevy van that my father in law gave me, that could/would easily donate its drivetrain to the '71...

Well it would be really difficult to do that cause some of these issues will take more than a year to really evaluate and then go about doing it in the proper manner it should be taken... like this whole ending th war in iraq its still will take at least a year from now to get all troops out of iraq and even then they will still have some there just not as many. the only thing is when someone has driven this country into the ground in about 8 years its def time for CHANGE it just sucks that we find out in november who will be president but cant make moves until 2009... but trust i at least think besides president they should be able do that with every other politician besides president... but then again as people were we the ones that led us to this... remember we the people vote for a reason did we happen to pick the worse president of all??? _________________ I bet my engine sounds better than yours....

Just as long as when the prez uses the military he(she) and his VP are on the first landing craft and stay on the front line till we leave. The commander in chief should lead by example. _________________ As loud as the devil and as fast as greased lightning. Too cool for school and too hot to handle.

Feeling the same pain. My1970 ELCO must go.
Wife got laid off 3 months ago and I just laid off 2 weeks ago.
I have never seen things ever this bad. With my wife's long experience, network of friends, co workers in her industry she still can't find employment in her field.
I tell you one thing NEVER have you and your spouse working in the same field like we did.
Bottom line is if I don't find something very quick my beloved '70 El Camino must go. My house is more important to me than anything with four wheels in my garage. _________________ 70 ElCO
