fellas,
Is there a way to find out if my 1966 is a early or late model?
I'm getting ready to order a rebuild kit for the front suspension and apparently there is a difference between a early 1966 and a late 1966. So any help would be appreciated!
Here's my VIN info:

VIN Number: 136806Z108985
...............

Digits: 13
...............

Generation: 2
Manufacturer: Chevrolet
Model Series: Custom El Camino V8
Body Style: 2dr Sedan Pick-up
Model Year: 1966
Assembly Plant Code: Fremont, CA
Sequential Production Number: 108985

You have an earlier car (by VIN)
Probably built in late 65----I have not gone to check the numbers yet

As for front end parts----pretty sure the only difference in the 64-67 cars
was the center link and idler arm----and I thought by the 66 model year
the parts were all the same

Open the hood and look at the tag that is on the firewall near the brake booster.
on that tag there will be a date

if you car is an early car built in the 65 calendar year it will have a code that looks like:

10A---10B---10C---10D---10E-------october cars
11A--etc-------------------------------november
12A-------------------------------------Dec
1A---------------------------------------Jan

TR = Trim 710 = Med Fawn leather
Paint = Cameo Beige
This info can be found an WWW. chevellstuff.net
Hope this helps.
