Sort of a newb engine block id question:

I bought my Conquista from a gent who had upgraded to a 350- just don't exactly know what 350 however.

I looked in the driver's wheel well and found the following numbers:
GM 14007400 LHK 13 60 V- this was on the exhaust manifold
379- was on bottom of block
186 297 N was on side of block

are these numbers useful in identifying the block? After doing some research, it seems that maybe the passenger side might be the place to look

Thanks

I got this number off of the right front part of the block just behind the alternator:

V1109800

any idea what specific engine it is? or where I can find out?

I have an engine number stamped into the block of V0519800. I went to that web site listed above and found the "V" is for Flint, 05 is for the month of May, 19 is for the 19th day but the "800" has me stumped. I see L Samino has the same "800" on his block. I suspect my engine is a Dart replacement and I wonder if the "800" indicates a "Dart" block. Anyone have any insights on this matter?

V0519800 is a GM parts TargetMaster 350 crate engine (generic)

These are HD engines for use in cars and truck across the entire Chevy. There are not high-performance engines, just you average replacement engine complete less intake and dist. which you transfer from worn out engine or buy new.

V - manf. at the Flint Engine Plant
05 - Month
1 - Day of month
9800 - manf during the 1979 model year

The Suffix CCD was used many times........
CCD - 1972 Camaro L48 350-200HP 4-bbl carb and TH350 A/T
CCD - 1985 Camaro LG4 305-175 4-bbl carb and TH700 A/T
CCD - 1972 Chevelle L48 350-200HP 4-bbl carb and TH350 A/T
CCD - 1982 Chevelle L39 367-115 HP, 2-bbl carb and TH350 A/T
CCD - 1985 Chevelle LG4 305-175 4-bbl carb and TH700 A/T
CCD - 1972 Nova L48 350-200HP 4-bbl carb and TH350 A/T
CCD - 1985 Pontiac LG4 305-175 4-bbl carb and TH700 A/T Firebird, Gran Prix
CCD - 1982 Impala L39 367-115 HP, 2-bbl carb and TH350 A/T

Look for another set of digits next to this code, that will be the VIN derivative and will match up with the original vehicle that got this engine.

Will look something similar to 12L500001 (just for example)
1 - GM Divisional Code, 1=Chevrolet, 2=Pontiac
2 - Model year of car, 72 in this case. 1980=A and so on...
L - Assembly plant code
500001 - match last 6 digits of cars vin to denote numbers matching engine
