A regular flex plate will fit the LT1, im just concerned that the torque converter bolts on the lockup converter for my th350c are a strange size, ive read that gm made some of the torque converter bolts in the lockup transmission metric sizes. Im going to verify the bolt size tomorrow and order a flex plate asap.
Ive ssen lots of places to buy housings or complete rear ends but my problem is im on a very tight budget so a lot of things are out of my price range at the moment, but fortunately my existing 3.08 open rear end is in good shape however im definitely going to go posi as soon as i have the money |

jojo, you say you rebuilt your rear end for $800?! thats amazing and definitely could be in my price range a lot easier than fitting a 10 bolt or buying a new rear. Im definitely going to look into buying an old gbody housing for cheap to rebuild, I would rebuild the one I have but the car is meant to be a daily driver and i need to get it on the road asap and keep it there as much as possible.

I got mine out of the local as paper. It's a 7.62 out of an 85 Monte SS, 3:73 open, but ALL the internals (gears, bearings, races, seals, etc) were brand new w/GM part nos on them. Kid had hit a tree with the front of the car. I paid $100 for it, with 2 stock rallye wheels and new brakes (incl. aluminum drums) on it. Look around, the deals are out there.

I found a wrecked '99 Camaro rear for the disc brakes. I swapped the internals over from the Camaro along with new axles, bearings and a new differential. It worked out pretty well. I first used the differential out of the '99 Camaro and it ended up being bad. If a another person went this route, I'd check the differential out really good!! There are lots of people buying these cars wrecked for the engines and transmissions. You can usually score a deal on the rear end if you are patient.

Thanks man. When I run for president, you can be my media spokesman!
![]() I've been asked why I don't write a book about my life too (it's been pretty interesting). But if I did, they'd put it in the fiction section, cause no one would believe it all actually happened. LOL I can answer a lot of questions as they come up, but I have no idea how I would categorize everything if I tried to put it in a book. After a LOT of pestering, I even tried to teach a couple friends, over the years, how to be creative with cars. I came to the conclusion that you either see things that way, or you don't. It can't be taught. Right joe (jlcustomz)? ![]() Quote:

The LT1 is a one piece seal that may be the different. I also think it has a smaller id on crankshaft mount.

i have a 95 LT1 in my 86 you would use any 86 to 99 small block flywheel from a one piece rear main seal motor includeing the original LT1 flywheel they all will bolt right up to your 350 turbo

Thanks for the input everyone, I just sent a question into summit about a flex plate I plan to order verifying the size of the torque converter bolt holes. I want to verify because the torque converter bolts in my TH350C are metric 10mm and I want to be sure they will fit before I order.
