Looks like the leaks are improving. Put some rtv on the rear. Transmission appears to be leaking from shift rod, I went ahead and rtv around the pan on the ouside just to be sure. Got some more pics that I will post soon

Finally sasitified with door gap.

front shot, yes I know my headlight bucked is missing, I haven't got around to throwing it back on.

Engine view and electric fan setup. Using the summit dual fan, fit like a glove.

Thermocouple for the controller

other side of engine

Wheel and negative wheel gap

Sway bar, exhaust axel.

Total PITA gas filler. I was disapointed with the Dorman tank, but it works. Hard to get cap off.
The tank vent too slow as well, I have to fill it slow, all 22 gallons worth.

Barf interior. One day I hope to do all aftermarket gauges in the dash, this is a temp set up for now as my factory speedo needle fell off, must have twisted from the violent acceleration j/k.

I would call dorman and ask If I could bend the filler tube. They might be made for that.

yeah, I tried. I would def need a pipe bender but there is the seperator sleeve in the middle, that I'm afraid may just crumple . I had to actually cut out arond the inner pinch weld on the car to even get it in.
Probably best I never call dorman, I would give them a peice of my mind. I'm still pretty disapointed with everything I have ever purchased from them, which is the gas tank for the cruck and the intake manifold on the mustang (original cracked), which I found after the fact was not made to original specs and has been shown on dynos to be lower performing. They advertise it as fitting a 4.6 mustang gt which uses the "performance improvement" manifold when it is actually for the lower powered 4.6's in crown vics. I feel that is false advertising. Just b/c it fits doesn't not make it correct. Needless to say eventually I will have to buy the right part and do it all over thanks to Dorman not categorizing their parts correctly.

Yeah, looks like I need to replace the shift shaft seal. Weather got suddenly warm and I noticed a small leak. I traced it to the shifter. Already ordered a new one. I hate it when I can't think of anything else to order. So I order a 3 dollar part with 5 dollar shipping. Or course I ordered an idler pulled for the mustang the day before...figures.

Filled in the lettering with white paint. I like the look on older cars.

I think my next plan is a heater (summit sells an after market heater like he majave) so I can drive it in the winter and start garaging my next project (2002 mustang GT). I am kicking around the idea of making the Elky my daily driver. I also need to lift the whole car up an inch, I have some rubbing issues up front with the 235's. I like Lowered car's but only lowered a bit, I don't really like slammed as it makes the car look puny and sickly.

Eventually I plan on yanking the 406 when the elco is good and tired and finding a 1st gen camaro to build for baby girl. I better put some 242 gears in the back, anything to slow it down . New house first, I need a bigger shop for everything I wan't to do!

I really enjoy what you did with the floor pans... I was really worried to replace mine myself, but I think I just might go for it now

Way to save her,,
Most probably would have cut her up.
I really like the tucked bumpers, very clean look!
2 possible solutions to your tank woes;
If you still have some thread showing on your tank strap studs add some 1x2 wood straps above the tank
Or
It's less than ideal but I'm sure it will work, cut your stock filler and use a section of hose and two clamps, this will give you a joint that you can adjust the length/angle. With your fab skills it would be no prob to make a filler tube mounting tab that attaches to the gas door bolt...

Keep up the good work !

Well after being sick nearly all of x-mas break I did manage to get one project done. This means I can finally start commisioning the el camino as my new daily driver which makes me happy.
So I obtained an after market heater from summit for about 160 bucks. Comes as a box with a core/fan/ switch/ and hardware.

Cut a hole in my firewall ac delete panel.

Cutting up the metal

tacking together

Heater mounted in car

Box in more complete state, just needs more welding

Used some silicone to keep water out, may look ugly but it seems with silicone the worse it looks the better it seals

Swtich

Final Assembly

The box is open on the bottom to draw in fresh air and keep water out, I use some spray sealer (Crap from the comercials with the dude floating on the screen door) on the box to seal the crappy gas less welds. I also sprayed aroung the edge where I screwed it on to help seal water out. I ran a fuse and wired up the switch. Heats up pretty good, it just blows on the floor but it heats as well or better than factory.

Wow! Very impressed. Love how it cleans up the firewall. Does it vent thru your stock ducts(defrost/floor/ dash vent options)?
What is the summit part #?

SUM-991102-1
This one has the tube style vents, mine is the grill face b/c the other was out of stock and I needed it fast. I didn't connect it to the stock plenum, but I am sure I can. In fact that may be a project soon.
Summit also sells duct that you can connect it with, but I/m sure the hardware store would have something useable.
With my electric fan set up the car hits operating temp in like 10 -15 minutes in 30 degree weather. Heats up rather fast. One of the best mods was ditching the pulley driven fan.

Metal welded in, then I used fiberglass filler as a seam sealer. I would suggest buying floor pans lol. It was a lot harder to do this way. If I knew then what I know now I would have jumped on all new panels for everything sooner.
