The time I got to spend with dad, and the time he got to spend with me, is something that most father and sons don't get to do. 4 years only spent in a shop is a lot of time to spend with someone haha, but it was priceless. I know he enjoyed it as much as I did.. I spent most of the time poking at him in the shop always giving him a hard time when I was doing something, but that's part of the fun He put off his own project, a 36 chevy, which is something he has wanted since he was in his teens, and I am greatful for that. Now its my turn to help him next summer.. I won't get to spend as much time on his as he did on mine because of college, but its gonna be another long several years totally worth it

Forgot to mention all the problems I have so far that need to be fixed or have already been fixed during the time I have had it... My hood is ruined.. The fiberglass never totally cured from the factory and has lines all around it where the two molds were put together and right now the cowl the layers are separating.. I'm gonna wait until spring until all the flexing and popping is finished before I fix it, My brakes that were dragging have been fixed, turns out that the rod coming out of the power booster was holding just enough pressure on the master cylinder to keep them compressed.. a little work with a grinder fixed that problem, My heater core went out on me, and I got in my car one morning to find a pool of antifreeze all over my carpet, no stains, got a new core and replaced it, My tranny kickdown is not working.. haven't gotten to that yet, Major oil leak.. fixed, Still need tires and some oil, My low beams went out.. fixed, The steering is starting to do some funky stuff.. not for sure what the problem is there.. fluid looks good and no leaking or noises, My vacuum pump is not kicking on when it should, Other than that.. Mrs. Lady is doing just fine

Oh absolutely! Sometimes I think the girlfriend gets jealous of the other girlfriend (Elky) because of the attention I give her, Nothing feels greater than having two girls fight over you

Hey guys, It's been a while . The cruck is doing as good as I expected with some minor problems here and there. I just got back from a 80 mile trip without wipers in the rain/snow/ice. It took a while to get back home, but we made it. She runs just fine in the cold weather as long as its warmed up to 120 before I pull it out of the driveway; however, sadly I have had to park it for the passed couple of weeks. Gas was burning a hole in my pocket . So I normally take it on 15 minute drives once a week, and a long drive when I can afford it . Problems... Hood is ruined, no more car shows for a while but I still let strangers take a peek when they ask. Wipers no longer work, need to take it apart and take a peek inside the little motor again. Tires are almost done, its sad when you can burn tires to 80 mph, but still fun Need a stickier tire next time, they were getting old anyways. Turn signal lever, shifter, oil pan, all need a little bit of attention. One last buff next summer should smooth out the paint again, I can see very very fine primer scratches starting to appear from the weather changes, no one else notices but it bothers me. A couple other very small 5 minute jobs. Other than that we are doing just fine. Never thought I could be so attached to something without a real heartbeat. My personallity is starting to melt together with the car, Not for sure if we a bestfriends or soul mates haha. I wanted to get on here and post a few pictures since the last time, and see what everyone else has been up to on their rides.

My little grocery getter

Miss Lady and my best friends Bullet, He is scared to race me

Her foot print

Until next time, Hope you guys like the pictures. And to those who haven't see the pictures of the car yet, I hope it gives you some ideas on your own

And no I am not trying to advertise street racing.. The burnout was from a night I got caught in the snow with a friend on the way back home, Those old Eagle GT's normally don't leave marks, I saw them the next day so I took some pictures with them. The 80 mph sideways burnout was supposed to be a 55 mph downshift launch on a backroad away from civilization and other houses, it started spinning and was smooth as butter so I just kept it going, and I have never raced it and probably never even will at the track, I just like to play every now and then . I didn't notice how that post sounded until after I had read it the second time, Just trying to clear the air , Drive safe and to your elky's ability before going off in the ditch

Hey there Dustin. Very nice looking '65. I'm envious, for sure. What did you do with your front suspension? stock? tubular? drop-spindles? new shorter springs? cut a coil(or 2)? I ask because i still have a bit of a "gasser" look going on and i'd like to get it down south like yours is, but want to do it right. I have some tubular A-arms i have yet to put on, but the spindles that come with that are stock height(the guy at the shop i bought them from said they would drop the front a tad just going from stock A-arms to these tubular w/disc set-up..i dunno) But also, do you have headers? If so, do you scrape collectors over speed bumps and driveways? Thanks in advance for taking on a barrage of questions. Jeff

Hey Jeff,
The previous owner had already put the suspension on the car so I do not know if the springs were from a different car or where to buy them if they were aftermarket. My spindles do not have any fab work, but they do have have a 2 inch drop.. they did not look like a new part when we bought the car so they may have been from a different vehicle too.. I just dont know. My control arms are factory. We had to relocate my shocks and my brake caliper location because I only had a half inch of travel before the frame would hit the calipers, but my frame was all screwed up so I don't know if you would have the same trouble.. I haven't seen underneath a stock one. My rear springs are 4 in drop, and my front are 2in drop.. No coils were cut. The car does not have the track feel but it still handles nice and smooth without too much body roll. I have not seen another elky with a stance as cool as this one, then again I haven't seen too many either. My exhaust has some minor scrapes on it. My oil pan is in line with my cross member, I usually bottom it out once a month no matter how careful I am, I just use jb weld to stop any seepage any time it gets scraped off, There is maybe 3 inches from the oil pan to the ground, and the front suspension is not super stiff so every now and then it gets hit. I have only tried going over one speed bump, it was scary but did not scrape, I usually just go around if I can. I will spend some time searching the internet to see if I can find my springs and spindles or some like them. I enjoy answering questions, I just wish I could give you a website and a price. But I hope this helps you out.
Dustin

JKK - Thanks! It took a while to get it to looking like it is. I kind of want to do some pro touring wheels but I'm afraid it might make it look more donkish.. havent really decided yet

Lemmy - Thankyou, I have a ton of progress photos but they are on another camera at my dad's house.

Here's some videos along the way.. not for sure if this is going to work out but at least the links may work. I took some of these when I was 16 or 17, I'm headed for 21 now so they have somewhat of a nastalgic feel to them. I have more but all my files are somewhere else so I can't upload them to youtube right now. I would just wait to post videos.. but I have no idea where they are at... But they are somewhere! haha.

Thanks Lockjaw, it's a ton of fun and a nice get-a-way from life when I take it for a short drive.

Jeff- I love rally wheels and I loveee flat black! But I just don't think rally wheels would look good on it after changing everything on it.. it kind of has a more modern look to it now. Some big deep dish rally wheels may look cool though.. but I don't have the pockets deep enough for custom ones
