Light Truck and Passenger Car engines are the same. Medium and Heavy Duty GM Trucks use a tall deck block. The distance from the crank center line to the top of the cylinders is .4" taller than the short deck block. The block is beefier and the cam is raised. Most parts are interchangeable and one will bolt in place of the other.
The tall deck block is taller and wider than the short deck so there are clearance issues when installing in a car. They are commonly used in drag racing because the thicker cylinder walls and the raised cam allow engine builders to bore the cylinders bigger and install longer stroke cranks then can be done on a short deck block.

When I bought my Elco it had a 454 with those same heads it went 14.20's and i later found out a cam lobe was wiped.

Put '66 closed chamber oval port heads on it went 11.50's

With a little more work went 10.70's 9.5-1 pump gas daily driver with stock suspension.

a 502 is still a short deck motor-----they just have very large coffee can sized pistons

a 1-ton truck is still considered light duty/pick-up class so it should have the same engine
that was used from the 70 Chevelle on up to the TBI motors-----short deck

2 of the 3 454 engines I have came from a 1-ton.
