Default interior plastic?

My interior on the `78 is mostly pristine except for the door panel plasiic.
Is there any glaze (if you will) or some other way of restoring it?
It has become dried out and "sugary".

It's easier to replace them. Probably someone on here has a set or try ebay. They do make reproductions that look "OK". I have a set on mine from dixiemontecarlo.com. Not quite the original "look", but close enough.

What plastic are you asking about? Is it the thin "chrome" on the upper panel?

There is no true restoration forUV damaged plastic. You could scuff & wipe it down to solid plastic & cover with fabric, such as a nice imitation leather & come out with a nicer, softer look . It wouldn,t be called restoration, but I'd consider it.

I have had great luck restoring such damage if it was not too deep. I've done this on several cars. '77, '79 and a '91.

Fine Media blast the parts from a good distance. Like 2 feet from nozzle. Do not overheat the plastic for obvious reason. I've used plastic media, its the best.

Degrease. Prime with SEM plastic Primer. Paint match with SEM or other plastic paint.

Then top coat with clear satin indoor/outdoor Minwax Helmsman spar urethane spray.

Thin coats! This is a tried and true way. Trust me, its awesome. And very scratch resistant. Looks very pro.
