welcome lownotes28 here is a site to help learn more about production and what size motor your camino came with. as far as options you will most likely need the build sheet. http://www.chevelles.com/elcamino/

Welcome of the South lownotes28, the silver lining of not having any documentation or provenance is you have a blank slate and can go what ever direction you want including full custom without guilt.

Welcome from south Florida. Check out what you started with but don't count on it being what you have.
After 40 years, previous owners change things and they aren't always stock replacements. Go by your current numbers to see what you got.

Welcome!

More '72s!

The links provided have all the info you'll need. Knowing if it's an SS or not - well, a few things will tell you immediately if it is or not. Does it have the "sweep" style dash or the 3 round "rallye" gauges? An SS would automatically get the rallye gauge option. Otherwise... bench, buckets, console or not, column shift or floor shift... all were choices. Beyond that, you'll need the build sheet to know exactly how it came off the assembly line.

Wow guys thanks for a great welcome, been checking out all your posts and suggestions, links, awesome info! Sounding more like she is not an SS as I hear of the options to look for with those regards. However the plot thickens and my curiosity rages! I have now come to know that the vin number on my registration, just registered by the way with no problems... is 4 numbers short on the end! I go to see what the dash/windshield vin number states and there isnt a vin # to be found on the car! I type the vin number in on some of the websites some of you have been suggesting and again, saying its not valid. How could the car have been registered without a valid vin#? yikes... second question is why do I not have a valid vin#? lol... back to Elky CSI investigating I'll let you know what I find! I'm loving all your El Caminos so cool to see all the varieties, customs, and restores... Elky heaven for sure!
