if it has been a yr ,,,then it is likely a float issue,,or needle and seat as stated,,either mountan man fuel systems ,,,or sean murphy inductions,,money well spent,,,,

It sounds to me like you are getting some trash into the needle and seat and it is flooding.

I also learned recently that Qjets don't like fuel pressure. I believe 5.5psi is the max recommended and most fuel pumps put out excessive pressure or they fluctuate at idle. Replacement pumps especially aren't built like OEM and can have way too much pressure causing the needle and seat to function improperly or fail altogether. I have been running a Sean Murphy Induction carb and also hear great things about Mountain Man as mentioned earlier.

Update: I don't give up without a fight. I took advicr posted earlier and pulled the carb off, pulled the filter out, and dumped the fuel. Is running like a champ.

Now that I have it running again and can wait for my tax return to get a new carb, what do ya'll suggest? Mountain Man carb or Sean Murphy Induction Stage 2 Electronic qjet? Going to stick with the electronic one to eliminate hassle of torque converter lockup

Considering I do mostly city driving and when I hit the freeway it's just to show off. Maybe one of Sean Murphys 750 CFM Stage 3 Qjets or their Stage 4 Quadzilla Qjet. Thoughts?

I have learned to never characterize any of my cars as fixed....they are just temporarily between malfunctions. .....Dan ( old_coot)
