Not to steal this thread but What are the best cut-outs out there from a brand standpoint...
Cut-outs that seal well and don't freeze up if they have not been opened for a long period....

Thanks,

Arnie in Iowa

So I just got off he phone with my exhaust guy and he said I can upgrade from 2 1/2 to 3 inch pipe and still use the 2 1/2 Flows I have. He said I can stretch the inlet to 3' but he said there might not be enough room to run it out behind the tire since it could be a tight fit.
Anyone know if that was a problem and would it be louder with the upgrade?
Also,If I pull this upgrade off,how will MPG's look?

Is "as loud as possible" what you are going for?

No sir! I want ti keep the noise in the cab down like it is now but I want my Flowmaster 40's to have a deeper rumble and exhaust note. Im not looking to jump to 44's or Magnaflows at all. Just wanting better flow and better sound.

Havent pulled the trigger yet. I read the article and Id be only gaining a bit of power but not enough to notice,so now its all about the sound.
I did find a guy who wants 60 for his 3 inch muffs with H pipe but he's acting squirly about it like hes scared to let em go. Im just waiting on a couple sales of items to snag em or even trade some parts for a set.

are you going with the super 40's or the 44's? the 44's will give you a deeper tone than the 40's. and if you add some slight turn-downs just before the axle (just turned down enough to spit the exhaust under the axle) then you will get an even deeper rumble, since the ground will help reverberate the sound and bass. If you exit out the sides, allot of the sound will dissipate out into the open air above and out and it will be just a sound, without much bass. let them rumble down under and you will set car alarms off (if thats what you are going for)

Looks like chopping off some pipe would be another option. Im running Original 40 series with 2 1/2 pipe now with no crossover exiting behind the rear tires. Maybe dumping them after the axle will give it a deeper rumble while keeping the cab noise down. Not sure if that will work but it is an option now.
As for the 44's,those are way too deep and loud for me since I drive on the highway a lot. When I first brough my Impala SS,the PO installed 44's that I took off in less than a year since the drone was too much to deal with on a daily basis. It seems the bigger cubic inch displacement makes the 44's louder than whats tested. Ever hear a BBC 496 with 44's? Now thats way too loud.
Looks like the 40's will remain in place with some manipulation of the pipes.

then, YES, bust out the cutting wheel, or the hack-saw, and chop thos suckers off! Either: alittle after the muffler before the axle, OR, you could let the pipes go up an over the axle, THEN, when they are pointing downward, and about at the same level with the axle, chop 'em off. You will LOVE the difference in sound and bass.
