wow, thanks everyone for the feedback. to answer the question about 305 or 350. i researched my vin and yes it is a 2 barrel 350. it was made in Georgia and fortunately, there has only been one rat skeleton. lol sucker was huge. i didnt take a pic of it, but i should have before i threw it over the fence to my neighbor's dog. so i am still kinda unsure on how to post pics with my posts, i read how to do it on the beginners forum but i am not very computer savy. i did start a gallery http://www.elcaminocentral.com/album.php?albumid=533 and in just a few moments i will be taking pics of my interior and what i accomplished last night. i will try to clean out all of the rust and coat my cab with some rubberized spray. i dont know if i should cut my floorpans where the holes are and weld in patch panels or just use the rust encapsulator and bondo over it. suggestions?

Nice truck, if you have the extra money I would deffinately get a 4 barrel carburetor. You could do it for around $275 at the cheapest with a mountain man carb $205.00 and look around on Craigslist for a 4 barrel Intake manifold. Easy gain in HP, I heard a 2-4 barrel carb swap adds up to 30 HP.

my father has some manifolds that he pulled off of his 68 camaro before he sold it. he also said that he may have some 4 barrel bodies but i will have to look. also have some 350 headers off of a camaro. any idea if they will fit relatively easily? and also if any body can help, i made a second album on my profile, but there is no option to add pics, all it says is " this album contains no pictures." any help?

I don't see why not? Sbc headers should fit. And go for the swap! They put 2- barrels on for good fuel economy but robbed HP. You got a nice first car!

thank you man i really appreciate it.my dad said that he doesnt know if the 4 barrel carb bodies are still around. so i will probably just buy a new edelbrock or holley carb when i get the cash. i have a few motorcycles that need to go so i may end up selling them. also i uploaded the rest of my pics to a member gallery so there is no picture cap. http://www.elcaminocentral.com/galle...2_itemId=88798

don't bondo the holes in the floors, that will just make for more work to do it over later. weld patches in if at all possible, seal and rivet patches in as a distant second choice.

Look at the bright side, you can always tell people that "it had a rat in it when I got it" if they ask about the motor!

so i coated the entire cab with duplicolor rubberized undercoat just to keep it from rusting any further till i can get some patch panels. i couldnt really get to the smuggler's box so i removed the plate in the bed and to my dismay, the floor was almost completely rusted out. will add pic to my gallery in just a sec. is this where the water drains or something and how do i fix this? http://www.elcaminocentral.com/galle...geViewsIndex=1 http://www.elcaminocentral.com/galle...geViewsIndex=1

Yeah, another 4th gen and a Classic to boot. Welcome from Watauga, TX.
I bought mine in October and I'm still grinning.

So what does the classic trim add? I think i am going to restore it as a rally sport. I know they didn't make one, so I may have the world's only '76 el camino rs

Welcome from San Jose CA! I went through your pics and it looks like a good car to restore. Pic #11 is interesting...... the stubby revolver on the seat is cool. Is it real?

I think it literally just adds a few external trim options, and the classic decal. My classic originally came with a 400, but I don't know if a 'no option' car could get a 400 or not. Nice elky by the way!

also, i think i am just going to get rid of the rust in cab and put some floormats down until i can get the time to weld in panels, if that is the only damage it has withstood in 37 years, i dont think it will progress much in a week or two. gotta look for a job to fund this project.
