Default Just bought my first el camino, NJ

Hello everyone, I have been searching for a nice el camino for months now and found one on craigslist in ny. The car is a v6 runner and I am wondering what should i get done when i drive it down to nj. transmition has been serviced so I figured oil change and radiator flush. The car has been sitting for a while so I would like your input on making a daily driver out of it. Thanks!

Welcome from Watauga, TX. Mine sat for a while before I bought it as well. I put Seafoam in the fuel tank to clean out any gummed up lines and the sending unit.
Post some pics.

Congrats on your new el camino, it's good to see more coming into the tristate area! That's one good looking el camino, doesn't seem like it will need much work at all, just be sure to check the rear frame rails for rot. I know they salt roads a lot in the area and most g bodies I see have frame issues

Red face What to Check

You will quickly learn if there are issues if you drive it a little. Check the obvious. Oil, trans. power steering, brake fluid and coolant. Check the level, appearance and smell. The `87 I recently purchased had sat a lot but was well maintained. The issues I have encountered were mostly related to previous modifications and correction was mostly personal preference as I prefer stock to modified. If a vehicle has truly sat a long time there can be issues with rubber seals in various components drying out. Good luck and welcome from Ohio. JPJenny
