I use Grundy on both my "old" vehicles. Have agreed value. They ARE a rep for Philadelphia Insurance Companies. They bought the insurance companies that Grundy worked thru, and were kinda put out of business until the insurance companies found out that they couldn't handle the traffic of the insurees, so hired them to do the policies again (this is from MANY who have insurance from Grundy, and their agents). I continue to have their policy for both. NOW, for those in Texas, who would like to contact a Texas rep for Grundy Worldwide, his name is Don Hughes at 972-617-3732 in Red Oak, Texas (505 N. I-35 Service Rd #400 75154). www.hughesclassiccarsins.com . I have NO connection to him, but have met him. Nice guy.

I have American Modern Classic Ins. on both Elkies.

69 agreed upon 20k is about 210 a year.

64 value 15k is another 20 a year.

Both have to be in a lockable garage, 3000 miles a year each.

Full coverage + roadside assist.

Hagerty was a lot higher and Heacock ticked me off.

Question about all of these companies you are all talking about. I've called a few of them and am running into the problem that I don't want any restrictions driving my elky whenever I want even as a daily driver and having a stated value. Do any of you have a policy that is stated value and Daily Driver? If so who do you have it through?

I called Grundy. Told them I have 2 normal cars a newer rav4 wife's car. An extra car that I drive a camry and the elky that I needed the Stated value for. But they said if I had the Elky as stated value it couldn't be driven to work or anywhere other than car shows and parades etc.. They said If I wanted to drive the Elky like that I would have to have another car that was only for car shows etc. to even have a policy with them. I'll have to call them again to see if they would do a stated policy on the elky if I did have another shows only car. Might be in the market for a project if that's the case. I talked to progressive and they gave me this astronomical price for aftermarket addon parts coverage that wouldn't even cover my drivetrain money only things like Hoods, rims, paint etc. And the price was just silly.

That is really weird as I have my 86 El CCC insured with them for a stated value and this is my second year with them with stated value. In fact I raised the stated value after the policy came out with no problem. After working with them in the years past maybe that makes a difference, and then ,it may be different when I go to renew next year. When I talked to them the guy also stated that didn't expect people to not drive the vehicle, just not as a daily driver. Mine ,when on the road is always en-route to a rebalance at the tire store.

Nice Wayne, I think that would make me more comfortable doing that knowing that I'm not the only one. With how much I have in my car now I'd be terrified to have it insured through a normal company and have them want to give me a couple grand if totaled. The parts I could pull off of the car after a wreck would be worth more than that to me most likely. I was tempted to take full coverage off of the car for that reason. I'll try to approach Grundy again and see where I get with it.

Thanks all
Jerry

wayne,,jerry i think the difference is i dont have a garage,,,seems like its really hard to find a co. to do this with out a garage or have the car stored,,the chances of something happening in the garage or storage are slim to none in my opinion.

The last I checked, you have to have a regular car for every licensed driver in the house before they will insure an "extra" specialty car.

I think the more important issue is your liability. Most of us have enough mechanical ability to rebuild our elky in the event of an accident that our insurance refused to pay for damages because we were not on our way to show. Would it suck to have pay out of pocket for the parts? Sure would. But, what about the other involved parties? What about their "injuries"? Last thing you want is for your insurance company to abandon you.
