I understand that I can replace the stock with aftermarket urethane, BUT, how does it effect the ride from stock,or make it harder /harsher riding ?

Poly bushings deflect a LOT less than rubber bushings, under the same load. This means that the steering response is quicker. The cost of this is that the poly bushings transmit more of the road vibration & noise to the chassis.

That doesn't sound good for daily driving.

I have learned to never characterize any of my cars as fixed....they are just temporarily between malfunctions. .....Dan ( old_coot)

In my case I'll describe my ride as firm with a quicker response. It might be the use of the Edelbrock IAS shocks I put on. No vibration or noise to speak of taking into account the age of the car.

I believe you have to grease them from time to time to keep from squeaking(so embarrassing).I put up with them in my Cobra Mustang, I won't on an El Camino.I replaced all of the springs with heavy duty and installed a rear anti sway bar because I do like my vehicles to handle but I don't see any point to try and make it into a race car....I would have kept my Mustang then. I also got the bench seat so I can carry 3 people, guess some of us tend more to the truck than the automobile side of the ELKY.

I just some what rebuilt my front end. Here's a list of parts I pieced together through Amazon, Napa, O'Reilly & Summit. I originally wanted to go with everything AC Delco also, but some items on Amazon were out of stock so I had to resort to mixing and matching.

Raybestos Lower Ball Joint $22 pair
AC Delco Upper Ball Joint $22 pair
Raybestso Center Link $37
AC Delco Idler Arm $30
Raybestso Out Tie Rods $23
Moog Inner Tie Rods - $38
MasterPro Upper Ctrl Arm Bushings $ 17
Napa Lower Ctrl Arm Bushings $30
Napa Front Rotors $60
Napa Ceramic Brake Pads $50

= $329

As for the Poly, I used poly-graphite bushings, and have no complaints. Can't really tell any difference in ride quality or noise. I liked the poly especially on the upper fronts, since they get a lot of heat from the headers.
