You are right about that. I customized a GMC pickup many years ago, and wouldn't drive in afraid it would get scratched. I had to promise hubby that I would drive this one.

Deanna:
check with your local paint supplier, I just did mine in Dupont base/clear and supplier recommended 4 coats clear so we could color sand or buff without going thru the clear. Also check and see if you do the stripping first, will the next coat of clear have any effect on it. we use One shot and do it over the final sanding/ buffing.
She will really look "Deep Purple " after more clear .
good luck !!!

I do like pink. I plan to do part of the striping or graphics in azalea (a shade of purple/pink.) Think it will look good with the purple.

That color looks awesome, even if it is a mopar color . Those wheels set it off perfectly, did you decide on letters in or out?

X2 Every clear calls for at least 2 coats with a third suggested for polishing/nib sanding. Also the recoat time is usually within 24 hours. So if you come back to it a week later and try to shoot a second coat over the first, you'll need to scuff sand the first. But then what about the stripes?

White letters are out. Glad I did it, think they look better.

Painter, my brother, seems to know exactly what he is doing. He has done several trophy winning vehicles. Says it's all in the grit of sandpaper you use. Said the more you buff it, the deeper the paint will look. I trust him to make her look beautiful.
