i understand wanting to do a complete restoration but, for me your car should be a extension of who you are and that is what the car world should be about. There are 2 types of car people 1. person who thinks about re sale value and that stuff and 2. the person who bought the car and made it into something to enjoy for them selfs not anyone else. Im a #2 i build what i want if you think its cool great if you dont i could care less.

On a Choo Choo, keep original as possible brother, they are great looking Elky's. But there again, you want fast, swap the motor. As was stated before, have everything else original equipment, but keep the 305 block in case you sell it down the road, and drop in the motor of your choice.

Default Choo Choo Custom restore

I received the picture, thank you. As you can see, my '84 is a clone that I built myself. So, I have a little of both. Choo Choo front nose, hood scoop, side exhaust(functional). CCC logo on glove box. Mods are shaved door handles and locks, gas filler lid, and tailgate. Rear roll pan and customs taillights, '04 Corvette side mirrors, Sonoma JQ 8 rims. The 140 hp 305 just doesn't cut it. 405 hp zz4, 700r4 trans and 3:73 posi.

It was only original once so even restored it won't be "original". Do your thing with it and make it yours.

Make it "yours" but retain most the originality of the Choo Choo option. If you decide to do any upgrades, save any parts you take off, so you or someone could possibly return it back to original some day. When I brought mine home last summer, I found out GM only made around 488 4 speed Caminos in 81. I can relate to your situation. I decided to do a few upgrades I could easily reverse but at the same time make the car something safer that handles better.

Restore the C.C.Custom. They didn't make many of them and they're getting rarer every day. Save the rare ones and do what you want with the rest of them.

well I just bought one and it was just a well maintained machine outside and originally bought by a drag racer I think so it has a racing engine and trans. I bought it with the original owners manual and all the receipts to all the parts and labor when the engine and trans was redone. and adding up what was put into it I bought it cheaper than that (not by much)

Default much funner to drive

one other thing adding your own engine mods or someone doing it before you only makes them much more fun to drive I can't wait for spring. I have a plastic board the previous owners listed all the mods on then at car shows put this board on the air cleaner. It says it has 450 horsepower and the short drive around the block to get gas shows me it sure does. WOW fun fun fun at fifty-one

If it were mine I would make it how I want it and do it my way,its the only way to make it 'YOURS'.
In saying that I would definately keep all the original parts replaced just in case.
