Question 5th Gen window re-seal question?

So I brought some clear winshield glue to seal up my rear window since I kept noticing drops of water on the bottom of the plastic under the rear window. I sealed the window from inside on top of the plastic, but now my question is how to remove the plastic to seal the window from the bottom?
Itd be nice to know how to remove this without breaking anything since Im about to freshen up the interior once the plastic is out of the way.

Hey Beast, before I got my 85 painted, the back glass was leaking and loose, it would rattle. The body man removed the glass and resealed it from the outside. And all is well. Hope it helps your dilemma.

if you are talking about the piece in the picture, there are 4-5 screws accessible from those little cut-outs next to the snaps you see along the bottom of the piece which need to be unscrewed first. then some tabs along the outsides that need to be dislodged in order to simply lift the piece off. lift the piece up as there are a few minor tabs along the top also that hold it in place. unless you really get physical with it, you should not break anything once the screws are out.

I guess I told you wrong, what I said was

What I should have said was

Beast,, do yourself a favor and have a glass or body shop pull both front & rear glass and reseal them both,, thats the firsy thing I do when I get a 5th gen project,, and doesn`t the B pillar help hold that under the window peice in as well?? I just Keyser`s back in and it had little hooks or finger`s for the B & C pillar to hold that peice in,, I think,, Matty man

DDD

matty man is correct- those tabs i spoke of are under the B pillar, luckily i could wiggle mine loose, didn't have to remove the pillars, however most probably do.

Mine will go a glass shop for the seals when i get it re-done, but i work right next door to one so its not a hassle.

I found the screws. I only had 2 out of 4 holding it in place.Used my drill and went to work.
I had to wiggle the B pillars to get it loose to finish day 2 of the re-seal after letting it set 24 hrs overnight.
Went and tested it good with a water hose for 25 minutes and no more leaks! Glad I didnt have to call my buddy at the glass shop for this easy job.
This is the reason why I love ECC! Thanks guys!

The El Camino rear windows are like airplanes with retractable landing gears. There are those folks who have landed with the gear "up", and those who will..(crunch)....so......

El Camino rear windows.........those that leak, and those that will....
Have it removed & done right, or it will come back to haunt you later......
