The California Historic Vehicle plates arrived.
They have the Month and year stickers for the wells. So it likely need to be renewed ($ 24 - $45/yr??? ).

Will let you know in May 2016 how much they want.
They did send the new Registration back, yet I did not get a new title back yet.

Wish they could be like the Arizona plan. You can get vehicle licensed for 5 years at one time. They also have the drivers license expire on your 65th bday then u have to renew. My son got stopped once here in Cali and the officer had to take a double take because it doesn't expire until 2060. Go figure.

OK, Now I can update with the annual renewal.

I was paying $160/yr.

I paid $25 after applying for CA Historic Vehicle Plates..
Annual renewal is $82.
That would be ( $160 - $25 - $82 ), or a $53 savings.
Next year it should be about ( $160 - $82 ) or a $78 savings, primarily from no longer having commercial and weight fees.

Not enough to pay for an extra full hour of skilled mechanic's time, yet maybe a half hour.

Unhappy

The normal registration for my '75 Elco is $37 bucks. It's the insurance in Michigan that is the big rip-off. Each vehicle has $176 bucks tacked on to the insurance premium for "catastrophic" injury coverage by the state. When I think about how many vehicles there are in this state, at $175 bucks each for that state robbery, it boggles the mind. And of course that fund has millions, or maybe a billion bucks in it now, if they haven't tapped it for the general fund etc...
And we don't even get a kiss with it !
